    Antony Beevor is a gifted writer. This is an exceptional account of the Battle of Crete, the subsequent clandestine operations and the Allies' attempt to keep the peace with the vying political groups after the war. Read the original paperback version before a trip to Rethymnon and Heraklion, it certainly captured the atmosphere of the country and it's wonderful people. I strongly recommend this book to any Military History enthusiasts.
